How home affect heat loss Performance Space Heater
Although the 4 million consumers rely on consumer reports to inform their purchasing decisions there is no substitute for reading the product reviews from people who actually have the product and operate under a variety of conditions and circumstances.
Still I do not know all the good reviews and head straight for Clunkers. As far as electric heaters go, the number one complaint of noise, but it is a subject for another day.
What I would like to draw your attention is the number two complaint: Disappointing performance, or to put it another way, lack of heat.
What attracted me about this is a review I read recently the owner of a wind turbine of 1500 watts of heating, which complained that not adequately heat the uninsulated, glazed porch weather gel.
This reminds me of the importance of factoring the loss of heat in the decision making process heater.
Few matter how much your home is "buttoned up" some heat is always escaping. And if your house or apartment is poorly insulated and sealing your heating dollars literally flowing through the cracks.
Most households use their device heating "zone heating" by calling back the master thermostat at a temperature in the low 60's and use of space water heater to take over, and yet, say 8 degrees, and restore the temperature in the room they occupy a comfortable level.
To illustrate how dramatically the homes heat loss, affect furnace efficiency that I set up the table below. The surface room for example is 200 sq.m.
Isolation Level / Air Leaks
Watts needed to meet Temp 8 ° / Number of 1500 watt heater Needed
A good insulation / Tight leak
800 watts – 1 heater
Avg. Insulation / Avg. Leaks
1600 watts – 1 heater
Poor insulation / Loose seal
3200 Watts – 2 radiators
None insulation / Outside
8000 Watts – 5 heats
It is clear from this table that only a radiator does not stand a chance to heat an uninsulated outside porch.
But it illustrates the effectiveness of some boxes Expanding foam insulation, some ribs, and a small window film would reduce heat loss of home and increase the efficiency of your space heater.
