Tapestries – The Medieval Times Herald?
The Middle Ages featuring a class distinction more clearly than any other before or after. The throne of an absolute monarch to the lowest serf, each level has distinct advantages and limitations. Education was available for only at the highest high; reserved for monarchs and their male descendants, priests, academics and students of law.
The uneducated masses constituted the largest part of society, and tapestries were a way to depict historical events and mythological to them in a format easily understood by young and old. The high cost of wall hangings to make a product out of reach of all but the most wealthy and prestigious. There was a major access road, however, which was open to all.
