John Scholtz
John Scholtz is a business development specialist who helps founders and finance leaders modernize their back office and scale with confidence. Today he serves as a Business Development Specialist at indinero, collaborating with U.S. startups and SMBs on outsourced accounting, CFO services, and growth-focused financial operations. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, John works seamlessly across time zones and markets, connecting clients with the right expertise and solutions.
Before indinero, John consulted with Fusion CPA, where he supported clients through accounting modernization and process improvement—experience that sharpened his ability to translate complex financial needs into clear, actionable roadmaps. Earlier, as an M&A Business Broker at Aldes Business Brokers, he focused on lower-middle-market transactions and learned to navigate the human side of deals—valuation, fit, and post-close outcomes—across sectors such as transport, financial services, FMCG/food, telecommunications, infrastructure, manufacturing, building materials, and aerospace. That period also gave him first-hand perspective on market cycles: COVID-19 froze many of the opportunities he was pursuing and ultimately pushed him to pivot from commission-only brokerage into more resilient, advisory-led growth roles.
John began his career at ZAQ Financial Services as a Business Development & Actuarial Support Consultant, where he paired commercial instincts with analytical rigor—owning projects across marketing strategy, sales, project management, and hands-on Excel-based data analysis. The role served clients in South Africa and Namibia, grounding him in practical problem-solving for complex financial questions.
He holds both a BCom and BCom (Hons) in Management Accounting from Stellenbosch University, an academic foundation that underpins his ability to converse fluently with finance and operations leaders while keeping the customer journey front and center. John’s core strengths include business development, marketing, and management, and he works bilingually in English and Afrikaans—a combination that helps him build trust and momentum with diverse teams.
Whether he’s mapping an onboarding plan for a fractional CFO engagement or scoping a finance-ops revamp, John brings dealmaker empathy, operator discipline, and a clear eye on business outcomes.
